Watermark a PDF

Text on every page, in one spot or tiled diagonally.

Stamp “DRAFT”, “CONFIDENTIAL” or whatever you need across every page of a PDF. The text is written as real text in the document, not as an image pasted on top.

With tiling on, the mark covers the whole page diagonally, which is the classic pattern for documents that are not meant to be reused.

How to use it

  1. Drop in the PDF.
  2. Type the text and choose the position, size and opacity.
  3. Process and download.

Frequently asked questions

Can the mark be removed?
With a decent PDF editor, yes: the text is just another object in the document. It marks intent; it does not prevent anything.
Can I use accents?
Yes. What will not go in are characters outside Latin-1, because the PDF’s built-in fonts do not have them; if you use one, you are told before anything happens.
Does it sit above or below the content?
Above. At a low opacity the text underneath still reads perfectly well.
