- Can the mark be removed?
- With a decent PDF editor, yes: the text is just another object in the document. It marks intent; it does not prevent anything.
- Can I use accents?
- Yes. What will not go in are characters outside Latin-1, because the PDF’s built-in fonts do not have them; if you use one, you are told before anything happens.
- Does it sit above or below the content?
- Above. At a low opacity the text underneath still reads perfectly well.
