Photos taken on a phone carry a hidden payload: the date, the handset model, the camera settings and, very often, the exact GPS coordinates of where they were taken. None of it shows when you open the image, but it is there, and it travels with the file.
This tool re-encodes the image from the bare pixels, so the resulting file carries no metadata at all. The EXIF orientation is applied before being discarded, so the photo does not come out sideways.

Frequently asked questions
- Do the GPS coordinates really disappear?
- Yes. The new file is built from scratch out of the pixel matrix, and none of the original’s EXIF, IPTC or XMP fields are copied across.
- Is the colour profile removed too?
- Yes, and that is the trade-off to watch. If the photo carried a wide profile such as Display P3, the result will be read as sRGB and very saturated colours may shift slightly.
- Will the file size change?
- A little, in either direction. A few kilobytes of metadata go, but the re-encoding may not match the camera’s exactly. At quality 95 the visual difference is nil.
